Obituary: On Sunday, the 15th inst., in his 51st year,
Hugh Blaydes, Esq., of High Paull, near Hedon, in this county. He was an acting
Magistrate (JP) for Nottinghamshire, for which county he served the office of
High Sheriff during the alarming disturbances of the Luddites in 1812; and was
formerly Major in the Third West York Militia.
From 1068 until 1567, the position existed as High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the
Royal Forests. From
1568 separate appointments were made for the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire
and for the High Sheriff
of Derbyshire.
